You ever just think about Wayland?
20+ years of trying and failing to replace X11 and somehow the solution everyone ended up settling on was "Every window manager just independently needs to completely replace X11 in their own codebase."

Yeah I know wlroots exists. Writing against it still sucks compared to xlib.
